Do you know how Iwako erasers are made ?

1. Making sample models

At Iwako, we receive many requests from people saying, "I want an eraser like this!" With imagination, we turn ideas into shapes.
  • Working with design sketches, we make sample wax models. To work on detailed texture, we wear magnifier headsets.

2. Making molds

Based on the sample models, we make a mold for each part.
  • We make molds for mass-production.
  • The molds are mounted in molding tools. They are very heavy, too heavy for one person to carry. There are as many molds as our variety of erasers.

3. Deciding colors

We carefully decide the colors, so the eraser resembles the real thing.
  • We try many colors before deciding.
  • · We decide the color for each part.

4. Molding

Things speed up from this stage! Manufacturing 10,000 erasers per day starts.
  • Our secret blend of materials allows precision shaping and represents the texture of the real thing, producing erasers that are comfortable to use too.
  • Our erasers are manufactured at this factory.

5. Erasers are born

We assemble parts, inspiring souls, to make erasers.
  • Parts with different colors are assembled and become Iwako erasers.

6. Packaging and shipping

We package the erasers carefully, and ship them to our customers.
  • Consummate worker skills are essential for assembly and packaging.
  • Inferior products are rejected at the careful inspection stage.

Iwako factory tours and workshops

At Iwako, we welcome visitors to our factory. Through our tours and workshops, we hope that children will learn about the excitement and fascination of manufacturing, helping children to imagine the possibilities of creation.
We work hard to show our factory to the public to communicate this.

Approximately 200 groups of children and adults visit our factory every year, finding new discoveries and experiences.
