IWAKO was founded in 1968 as Iwasawa Kogyo, kogyo meaning industry in Japanese, and changed the name to Iwako in 1978.
Asking why erasers always have to be rectangular, IWAKO started making erasers with different shapes.
Today, many people in Japan and around the world love IWAKO erasers and think IWAKO only manufactures erasers.
Actually, we also manufacture many other plastic products too.
Constantly innovating, IWAKO creates many new eraser designs every year.
As long as we have a shape to work with, we can create an eraser from that shape.
For animals, we put our drive and energy into making them as cute as possible.
For food, we strive for realism. We carefully imitate the textures of the real items that inspire our erasers,
as well as shape and color.
IWAKO erasers are made entirely in Japan. Safe, effective as erasers, and attractive,
people from children to grown-ups love IWAKO erasers.
IWAKO erasers are included in school supply sets, given as sales promotion gifts, and collected.
IWAKO welcomes children, who are our future, to tour our factory so they can learn the joy of creation.
Every year, two hundred groups of children visit our factory.
Touring the factory and touching machines and materials excites their imagination. Some of our erasers were even created from their ideas.
